Present: Debbie Stodberg, Frank Diller, John Davis, Taran McZee, David Marchetti, Sam Crowther, Student Rep: Matt Williams

Absent: Laura Little, Dave Mader, Angela Burdiss

Old Business

Discussion of Laptops and policy for classroom use – Continued – Little, Mader and McZee will finalize soon

Course Management system – still discussing looking for volunteers to help with this – need faculty members to experiment doesn’t matter if you have used any course management systems before or not.

New Business

Laura and John and others went to Educause – John gave brief background about the conference  – Educause is:

• Conference for education
• Gives out the edu domain names
• Research areas
• Does surveys on topics of concern to IT depts..
• Topic this year – security issues
• Government involvement – wire tapping of the internet (what the cost would be to schools)
• Educause lobbying to keep Government from doing this.
• Net Neutrality – who would have priority colleges/businesses – Internet built by Colleges and Universities
• Internet should remain free to all on equal levels
• Issues with blackboard/WebCT– Blackboard recently purchased WebCT last year and they patented it – now fighting in court with other similar companies for rights.- Educause feels patent should be turned over.

Trustees Meeting Report – response was pleased how things are going – wireless in dorms working but not yet perfect.
