Advising Award
Nominations are invited for the Advising Awards.
Quality advisors are faculty who:
- Help student with major/career/life planning
- Mentor students in relationship to transitional issues—including being able to direct students to a variety of types of assistance across the campus
- Assist students with course selection
Selection of award recipients will be made by the Faculty Development Committee, and the recipients will be recognized at the FoundersÍ Day Ceremony in February. All nominees will be notified of decisions before Founders Day. The awards will be treated as a salary enhancement (taxable).
Faculty members can be nominated by one or a combination of the following:
- Student nomination of faculty through nomination letters
- Self nomination with the submission of an advising portfolio
- Colleague nomination through nomination letters
For student and colleague nominations, the nomination should include the name of the faculty member being nominated and a brief (maximum 1 page) description of how this faculty member meets the criteria for quality advising listed above. For self nomination, faculty members should submit a brief portfolio of their advising and describe how they are meeting the criteria for quality advising listed above.
Nomination Procedure
Submit 10 hard copies to Suzanne Walker, Department of Communication. The nomination form should include the date, name and department of nominee, and a description of how the faculty member provides quality advising (as described above).
